“Bluebird Migration” was inspired by the timeless beauty of birds in synchronized flight — a majestic, almost spiritual image that connects freedom, travel, and inner peace. Each block in this quilt represents a bird, soaring across a cream-colored sky, using a range of indigo prints reminiscent of Japanese sashiko, vintage denim, and delicate porcelain.

Crafting this quilt was not without its challenges ensuring symmetry in the curved pieces required precision and patience. But each “bird” that came to life on the quilting table brought a little more magic into the room. The quilting pattern, which mimics wind currents with its diagonal lines, adds motion to the composition, making the birds appear as if they are truly in flight.
